On the day, though, everything went off really well, and she looked beautiful. Here's a picture of us (aww...)
Don't be fooled by the other bridesmaids' smiles - they secretly want to murder the bride for forcing them into pink shiny floor-length dresses. I, on the other hand, am clearly in my element! =)
I'm happy to report that I gave my maid of honour's toast without shedding a single tear, contrary to EVERYONE'S expectations. I have to admit that I got a bit teary during the ceremony though, but managed to hide it - well, more or less!
On the downside, there was not a single hot groomsman in sight, a loss which we all felt quite severely (Yes, Roland, I'm superficial. Get over it). Luckily, the evening was saved by the timely arrival of a cute relative of the groom. He showed me how to use his fancy camera, I feigned absolute incompetence, and the result is that we've got a date for later this week (yay!). I'll let you all know how it goes ;) And for anyone who's wondering, no, he's NOT younger than me!
And then, because one party is never enough, last night was the bride and groom's homecoming (read: return-from-honeymoon party). I wore a sari for the first time in about 5 years (nearly tripped over my own hemline about a dozen times during the course of the evening). I love how glam we look in them though! =) they're sooo shiny...!
Also, apparently I'm not the only one who thinks saris are awesome - when two of my friends and I walked out to the hotel reception, we were accosted by a group of Asian tourists who insisted on having their pictures taken (one by one, mind you - it took ages!) with us in front of a giant christmas tree in the lobby. Sooooo funny!!
So that about wraps up my week's summary. Stay tuned for the (possibly less glitzy) next instalment.
xx
Steph
